“It must have been hard for you and Alfred, growing up in the middle ages,” Tim said, wrinkling his nose. This sarcastic kind of humor was one of the many things he liked about Bruce, mostly because he had it himself.

At the mention of work, he brightened.

“Work? Sure! I can be your research assistant again!” He said, rocking on his feet.

”The internet connection was terrible,” Bruce said morosely, ruffling Tim’s hair. He managed a laugh. “Yeah, I suppose you can. Better than the ones I’ve got at the moment, anyhow.”

Laughing, Tim removed Bruce’s hand from his hair. He ruffled it, as if his form of untidiness was some how more fashionable than what his father figure was able to do.

“Lemme get changed,” he said, racing off. He returned, “changed.” Really, all he did was grab one of the “vintage” pull-overs and slip into sneakers. The year 1988 stood out on his chest. “What are you and your company working on?”
